Our Sr. Mechanical Engineer will have at least 10 years of experience in a production or product development environment with a demonstrated ability to take mechanical designs from concept through to production. Working closely with our engineering, production, maintenance, and tooling staff members, the Sr. Mechanical Engineer will also become our go-to resource for new product development and testing, product application development with Sales, and a critical technical resource and liaison with our supplier based on component design and material selection.
Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement equipment, tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing processes to yield the highest quality clutch assemblies and components.
  • Understand how products work, how they are built and tested, and how to optimize designs for performance, cost, and manufacturability.
  • Contribute to all aspects of our product and assembly design, testing of assemblies or components.
  • Manage engineering administration tasks and documentation including drawings, engineering change notices, item master, bill of materials, and labor routings.
  • Support component design and material selection to suppliers with respect to manufacturability and fully support technical development and concerns with suppliers.
  • Design/implement machine setup and programming.
  • Oversee tool making including design, fabrication, and installation for all tooling and fixtures.
  • Calculate the proper machine or assembly output rates and maintain all labor routings in our ERP system.
  • Write all work instructions for manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Support all facility repair & maintenance including building systems and infrastructure and coordinating projects involving outside contractors.
Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of production process development and machinery & equipment implementation experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience working with metals, steel, CNC machinery, and related equipment, dies, and fixtures is required. Extensive exposure and/or experience with mechanical product design is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or strongly related engineering discipline
  • Strong technical experience with manufacturing equipment, tooling, and process design, selection, and installation.
  • Proficiency in CAD and 3D modeling (e.g. SolidWorks or similar) for manufactured products, assemblies, and components is required.
  • Experience with prototyping, testing, and manufacturing transfer.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
