The Design Engineering Intern will assist with the CAD driven mechanical design of custom and standard capital equipment used for pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical product manufacturing (example equipment types include chromatography, buffer formulation, virus filtration, oligonucleotide synthesis): Assist Lead Designers in all activities CAD layout of system components (using Solidworks) Assessment of best practices perASME-BPE
guidelines Creation of fabrication drawings (using Solidworks) Creation and modification of Piping & Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID:
using AutoCAD) Interface as appropriate with Engineering team Interface as appropriate with customer stakeholders Manage a variety of concurrent assignments Apply a curious, energetic, and customer-focused mindset Make suggestions for improvement as applicablePrimary Duties and Responsibilities Customer Projects:
Create and / or review P&IDs in collaboration with Project Engineer Create and / or review Solidworks models in collaboration with Lead Designer Create and / or review Solidworks fabrication drawings for system lines and frame components Aid in the presentation of system designs to Project Engineer and Customer Work with Assembly to assess potential design modificationsInternal Projects:
Aid in managing the PDM Vault file management system Aid in efforts to further standardize design activities: File renaming Cataloging commonly used parts Aid in integrating PDM Vault with Business Central Contribute to process improvement activities as directed Additional Duties and Responsibilities Seek and participate in current, relevant technical training as well as non-technical training opportunities Provide subject matter training to colleagues and customers Minimum Requirements Currently in pursuit of Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Biomedical) Ability to work onsite at Glenview facility Proficiency in CAD software: Solidworks and AutoCAD Awareness of Quality Management Systems Awareness of personal strengths, weaknesses, and impact of decisions on wider team and department Eagerness to learn new technical information, new processes, and new skills Willingness to assist outside of everyday responsibilities when required Possess these qualities: energetic, positive, strong interpersonal communicator, detail-oriented, ethics-minded, problem-solver, adaptable, team-oriented, customer-focused, and self-motivated Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions Occasional exposure to pressurized liquids, live electrical circuits, and/or chemical solutions requiring proper personal protective equipment (provided) The base compensation range for this role is $18-20/hour. Base Compensation is influenced by many factors including, but not limited to: time in the role, previous experience, skills, knowledge, performance, work requirements, internal equity, and business / economic conditions.
