Role Summary We treat factories as innovative products, not copying machines. You will lead the ideation, design and execution of General Assembly equipment & technologies, enabling Rivian to launch products smarter, faster and more sustainably than ever before. This vast scope starts with collaborating with product design to optimize manufacturability and ends with delivering conveyance and automation systems that challenge the status quo. This opening will be located at our Normal, IL reporting directly to the Sr. Manager, Manufacturing Engineering. Responsibilities This role is based in Normal, IL and supports existing production lines through continuous improvement, leveraging innovative technologies and providing end-to-end ownership of equipment and automation implementation for future vehicle programs. Define manufacturing technologies & strategies, with the goal of maximizing space utilization and manufacturing efficiency Collaborate with design to optimize interaction between equipment and product End-to-end ownership of equipment introduction, covering all milestones from RFQ, SOW, design, fabrication, FAT, installation, commissioning, SAT to finally ramp Support vendor selection and negotiations to optimize financial spending Ensure effective handover of new equipment to operations and sustaining teams Actively engaged in value engineering, challenge assumptions and break the status quo Qualifications Bachelor's degree in engineering or similar technical field. 5+ years of experience in an engineering role related to DFMA, product optimization, manufacturing process or equipment development Strong knowledge in manufacturing and industrial engineering principles, including OEE, cycle time analysis, DVA, Cp/Cpk, GR&R, ergonomics, DOE, quality control, equipment selection, PFMEA, ROI analysis, error proofing, supply chain & logistics. Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems using first principles, challenge assumptions and biased towards action Demonstrated ability to work independently and with cross functional teams Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Experienced working within 2D & 3D CAD environments and various engineering tools Pay Disclosure The salary range for this role is $98,500-$123,000 for Illinois based applicants. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, and organizational needs. The successful candidate may be eligible for annual performance bonus and equity awards.
