United States, Indiana, Columbus Aug 25, 2026 Job Posting Title Design Engineer Job Description Summary Dauch is searching for a Design Engineer to join our team. This position will be based out of our Columbus, IN location. The Design Engineer leads the project planning design development testing and release of new products and product enhancements. Projects are broad and varied, requiring inclusion of technical and business context and solving of non-routine problems.
Job Description:
Gather and comprehends customer requirements by supporting the team prior to and during customer interface meetings; researching and recording historical and benchmark information regarding the customer's need; creating and maintaining a record of potential risks with the product design. Translate customer requirements into product specifications; interfaces with customer representatives to ensure their desired features and performance levels are properly comprehended in product specifications. Compile reports and completes documentation to track and facilitate the product development process; obtains an approved product number for the current product development cycle. Validate the design of new products or product enhancements by completing various analyses such as stack-ups, DFMEA, Finite Element Analysis, Design for Assembly/ Manufacturing studies, and Noise, Vibration, and Harshness studies. Participate in various technical reviews throughout the product development cycle; prepares technical presentations to various stakeholders. Establish key product characteristics and develops a bill of materials for an approved design. Compile reports and completes documentation to track and facilitate the product development process. Coordinate the testing and validation of product designs; gains prototype and part approval. Attain final authorization, documentation, and release to production of a new product or product enhancement design; completes design drawings or other documentation; obtains drawing approval and issuance of notice of release; supports product launch activities. All other duties as assigned. Required Skills and Education Bachelor's degree or equivalent relavent experience. Experienced in 3D CAD software (Solidworks, NX, etc) and GD&T principals. Exposure to forging, casting, metalworking is highly desired.
