Full-time Job Summary A growing manufacturing company in Elkhart, Indiana is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead engineering activities supporting multiple manufacturing operations. This position will play a key role in product and process engineering, new product launches, continuous improvement, project management, and day-to-day manufacturing support. The Engineering Manager will work closely with production, quality, sales, customers, and suppliers to improve manufacturability, efficiency, quality, and overall operational performance. The ideal candidate has hands-on manufacturing engineering experience, strong CAD/design capabilities, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to lead projects and people in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities Lead engineering activities supporting manufacturing operations Manage customer and internal projects from concept through production launch Work closely with production teams to improve manufacturability, efficiency, throughput, and quality Identify and implement process improvements and cost-reduction opportunities Support continuous improvement initiatives related to quality, productivity, cost, and delivery Review customer specifications, prints, and technical requirements Support quoting, cost analysis, and manufacturing feasibility reviews Troubleshoot product, process, tooling, and production issues Coordinate engineering priorities and ensure projects are completed on schedule Develop and maintain engineering standards, documentation, and processes Technical Responsibilities Create and maintain engineering drawings, prints, specifications, and manufacturing documentation Develop and maintain BOMs, routings, and related production documentation Support the design and manufacture of wire harness assemblies Support other manufacturing operations outside wire harness assemblies Create and modify 2D and 3D CAD designs Work with vendors, equipment suppliers, and outside resources on new tooling, modifications, and process improvements Assist production with troubleshooting and implementation of new manufacturing methods and equipment Qualifications 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience Previous engineering leadership, supervisory, or project leadership experience Strong 2D and 3D CAD skills Experience with manufacturing process development and improvement Understanding of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work effectively with production employees, customers, suppliers, and management Preferred Experience Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable: Wire harness design and manufacturing Wire processing, crimping, termination, assembly, or electrical manufacturing Manufacturing automation fixture design New product introduction and production launches Autodesk AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar CAD software A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field is preferred, although equivalent manufacturing engineering experience will be considered.
Pay:
$75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
