Job Description :
We're seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to support highly automated heavy-duty engine machining and assembly operations. In this role, you'll work directly with production, maintenance, skilled trades, mechanical/process engineering, and quality teams to troubleshoot controls issues, minimize equipment downtime, and keep critical machining operations running. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced controls professional who enjoys hands-on troubleshooting in a manufacturing environment and working with PLCs, CNC systems, robotics, drives, servos, and industrial automation. What You'll Do Troubleshoot and modify PLC, CNC, HMI, and robotic control systems Diagnose controls-related production and equipment downtime issues Support servo systems, VFDs, motors, and industrial networks Support CNC machining and automated assembly equipment Work alongside skilled trades and engineers to diagnose equipment failures Read and interpret electrical schematics, technical drawings, and OEM documentation Support machining monitoring and higher-level manufacturing systems Assist with controls specifications and designs for new manufacturing equipment Improve existing controls and machining processes Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering teams What We're Looking For Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related technical field Approximately 8+ years of relevant controls/manufacturing experience Strong PLC and HMI troubleshooting experience Experience supporting CNC or automated manufacturing equipment Knowledge of servo systems, VFDs, industrial networks, and robotics Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics Experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Strong troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills Ability to work the 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM shift Highly Desired Experience Experience with any of the following would be especially valuable: Siemens Step 7 Siemens TIA Portal Siemens 840D Siemens VFDs and servo systems Allen-Bradley PLCs FANUC robotics Cognex vision systems Trumpf laser equipment SAP or Maximo Automotive or powertrain machining Hydraulic and pneumatic systems Metal-cutting and automated assembly processes
