We are seeking an experienced CAD Design Engineer specializing in Body Roof Ditch Moldings to support a leading Tier 1 automotive supplier. In this role, you won't just sit behind a screen—you will own the design, development, packaging, and release of roof ditch molding components. You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration, high quality, and flawless execution throughout the vehicle development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities Design & Development:
Lead the design of Body Roof Ditch Molding components specifically tailored for automotive vehicle programs. 3D & 2
D CAD Creation:
Generate and modify high-quality 3D CAD models and detailed 2D drawings utilizing CATIA V5 or Siemens NX .
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner with Body, Closures, Exterior Trim, Sealing Systems, Manufacturing, and Supplier Engineering teams to align on packaging, fit, finish, and manufacturability.
Design Optimization:
Ensure all designs meet strict quality, cost, timing, and manufacturing constraints.
Validation & Support:
Support prototype builds, participate in design reviews/feasibility studies, manage engineering changes, and assist with validation activities.
Documentation:
Manage engineering releases and maintain strict compliance with industry and OEM engineering standards.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or an equivalent technical discipline).
Experience:
5+ years of hands-on product design experience in the automotive sector.
Domain Expertise:
Proven track record designing Roof Ditch Moldings, Exterior Trim, or Body Side Trim systems .
CAD Tools:
High proficiency in CATIA V5 or Siemens NX .
Process Knowledge:
Strong understanding of automotive product development, engineering release workflows, and design validation.
Soft Skills:
Outstanding communication skills and a natural ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
Direct experience supporting major OEM programs or other Tier 1 suppliers. Deep knowledge of injection-molded plastic components, attachment strategies (clips, adhesives), sealing systems, and manufacturing processes.
