Job Description

Our client is seeking a Design Engineer to support new product development, product enhancement, and cost reduction initiatives in a manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for an engineer with a strong background in mechanical product design, SolidWorks, and manufacturing processes such as injection molding and die casting. Candidates with experience supporting products used in the construction industry or those familiar with construction-related equipment, materials, and applications are highly desired. The Design Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to transform customer and product requirements into innovative, manufacturable solutions while ensuring performance, quality, and cost objectives are achieved. This position is 100% onsite in Owatonna, Minnesota. Seeking candidates with 3+ years of experience. There is an opening for a mid level engineer and a senior level engineer.

90-130k, DOE Technical Skills & Responsibilities Lead product design and development activities from concept through production launch Develop detailed customer, product, and functional requirements Create 3D CAD models, assemblies, and engineering drawings using SolidWorks Perform engineering calculations, tolerance analyses, and design validation activities Utilize Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to evaluate and optimize product performance Design components and assemblies for injection molding, die casting, and other manufacturing processes Conduct and participate in Design Reviews, DFMEA, and risk assessments Develop prototypes and oversee prototype evaluations Support Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and cost-reduction initiatives Execute product testing, validation, and accelerated lifecycle testing Provide technical leadership for product improvements and customization efforts Support manufacturing implementation and continuous improvement projects Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline Minimum of 3 years of product design or product development engineering experience Advanced proficiency with SolidWorks Experience with engineering analysis and FEA tools Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes Ability to lead projects and work effectively within cross-functional teams Excellent communication and technical documentation skills Preferred Experience designing products utilizing injection molding and die casting Familiarity with products, equipment, or applications related to the construction industry Experience with DFMEA, DFM, validation testing, and prototype development Knowledge of product lifecycle management and new product introduction processes Strong problem-solving and continuous improvement mindset Benefits Competitive compensation package Generous profit-sharing program 401(k) with company match Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance Health Savings Account (HSA) Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA and Dependent Care FSA) Company-paid Life Insurance Company-paid Short-Term and Long-Term Disability Insurance Supplemental Life Insurance options Paid Time Off (PTO) 9 Paid Holidays Tuition Reimbursement Program Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Onsite Fitness Center
