Edge Manufacturing is a growing international cutting tool manufacturer headquartered in Pevely, Missouri with locations worldwide. Position Summary Edge is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer with a strong electrical background and 5 or more years of manufacturing engineering experience to support and improve manufacturing processes, equipment, and facility operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of both mechanical and electrical systems and be comfortable troubleshooting manufacturing equipment and working with production teams. Candidate must be able to perform engineering tasks as part of a small multi-disciplined engineering team. This includes project planning, deriving requirements from system objectives, designing, prototyping, assembling, deploying, and providing support. Solutions developed should be robust and elegant, with careful attention paid to the usability and repair by production, maintenance, and process control staff. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, improve, and optimize manufacturing processes to increase productivity, quality, safety, and efficiency.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing equipment, machinery, electrical systems, and controls.
- Apply knowledge of facility electrical systems and machine electronics to support equipment installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and improvement.
- Work closely with maintenance, production, quality, and engineering teams to resolve equipment and process issues.
- Analyze production problems and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing activities.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and increased equipment reliability.
- Support the installation, commissioning, and modification of manufacturing equipment.
- Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, work instructions, process specifications, and equipment standards.
- Assist with equipment layouts, process flow, tooling, fixtures, and production line improvements.
- Other duties as assigned Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering or a closely related engineering role.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, manufacturing systems, automation, SCADA, and MES platforms.
- Working knowledge of general electrical theory,facility electrical systems as well as machine electronics and control systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical equipment and work effectively with maintenance personnel.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and equipment documentation.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a production/manufacturing environment.
- Experience with automated manufacturing equipment, controls, PLCs, sensors, motors, drives, and related machine electronics.
- Experience with lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
- Experience with equipment installation, commissioning, and process development.
- Experience working with contractors, equipment suppliers, and cross-functional engineering teams.
- Ability to design in 3D and 2D using Autodesk PDM Collection of software.
- Strong awareness and adherence to Design For Manufacturing (DFM) practices. Working Conditions
- Role requires regular time on the plant floor in a production environment (noise, machinery, safety PPE required)
- Some travel may be required to support multi-site operations or expansion projects.
