Job Description

Accentuate Staffing is working with an established, technology-driven manufacturer in the Durham area to recruit a Senior Manufacturing Automation Engineer. This role will shape major automation investments across production and material flow, improving throughput, reliability, safety, and scalability in a growing operation. The ideal candidate has led large capital automation projects and can move comfortably between technical design, programming, vendor coordination, and plant-floor implementation. Success requires explicit AGV or AMR project experience together with strong PLC/HMI, robotics, motion, vision, conveyor, and manufacturing-systems knowledge. Responsibilities Lead the design, programming, integration, and startup of automation systems supporting production, intralogistics, and material handling. Own project scope, business requirements, budgets, schedules, risk management, technical documentation, and implementation milestones for major capital initiatives. Integrate and optimize PLCs, HMIs, robotics, motion control, SCADA, vision systems, conveyors, sensors, drives, and AGV or AMR platforms. Coordinate engineering, operations, maintenance, IT, quality, procurement, equipment vendors, and system integrators from concept through acceptance and sustained operation. Advance smart-manufacturing capabilities through MES, WMS, ERP, data, and production-system connectivity while improving reliability, throughput, and downtime performance. Apply machinery-safety, environmental, quality, and continuous-improvement standards throughout design, commissioning, and ongoing optimization. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, automation, mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline. Five or more years of progressive automation or controls experience in manufacturing, including leadership of large-scale projects valued at $1 million or more. Documented experience leading projects involving Automated Guided Vehicles or Autonomous Mobile Robots; the experience must be stated on the resume or professional profile. Strong PLC and HMI programming experience with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or comparable platforms, plus robotics, motion control, SCADA, machine vision, conveyors, sensors, and drives. Working knowledge of
MES, WMS, ERP
connectivity, industrial networks, technical documentation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and vendor management. Strong project leadership and communication skills; PMP certification and experience in continuous, 24/7 manufacturing are preferred. #accentuate2
