Job Description
Job Summary
The Manufacturing Engineer provides technical engineering and manufacturing support to production teams operating in a commercial aircraft manufacturing environment. The position assists production in analyzing and resolving technical and manufacturing issues in accordance with approved product definitions, engineering requirements, and manufacturing processes.
The position involves the application of manufacturing engineering knowledge, production processes, technical documentation, tooling, manufacturing methods, and structured problem-solving techniques to support safe, compliant, and efficient aircraft production.
The Manufacturing Engineer works closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, Logistics, Scheduling, and other technical functions to investigate manufacturing issues, maintain product conformity, and support production continuity.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure product compliance with engineering design requirements and the applicable Manufacturing Dossier.
- Analyze technical and manufacturing issues identified on the production floor and develop or support appropriate technical solutions.
- Conduct technical investigations and provide technical guidance, documentation, and support to production teams.
- Interpret and apply engineering drawings, specifications, manufacturing documentation, work instructions, and technical requirements.
- Investigate production issues and determine appropriate escalation paths to Manufacturing Engineering, Design Engineering, or other technical functions when additional engineering analysis or design authority is required.
- Analyze, document, and follow up on non-conformities and Assistance Requests, including supporting root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Support root-cause investigations and corrective actions related to manufacturing issues.
- Create, update, and maintain Manufacturing Work Orders and related technical documentation.
- Identify, order, and track special and urgent parts required to support production activities.
- Create and follow up on jig and tooling notices, including requirements related to tooling repair, maintenance, and production readiness.
- Support the evaluation and resolution of tooling, fixture, equipment, and manufacturing process issues affecting production.
- Monitor and report discrepancies in product definitions and ensure they are appropriately communicated and routed to the relevant technical function.
- Search for and provide production teams with applicable technical
- Participate in daily production and technical meetings and provide updates regarding product status, production issues, and required actions.
- Prepare, support, and participate in Handover Meetings to ensure continuity of manufacturing and technical activities.
- Provide technical documentation, instructions, and engineering support to production teams.
- Support production launch, process readiness, and ramp-up activities as required.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and support the implementation of manufacturing improvements while maintaining compliance with approved engineering and quality requirements.
- Maintain accurate technical and manufacturing documentation and ensure that relevant changes are properly documented and communicated.
- Report progress, technical issues, and blocking points to the appropriate manager.
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety, quality, hygiene, and working-condition requirements.
- Maintain the training and qualifications required for the position and ensure appropriate traceability of operations, tools, and products.
Requirements
Requirements:
- Knowledge of manufacturing engineering principles and production processes.
- Good understanding of industrial and aerospace manufacturing environments.
- Ability to analyze technical and manufacturing problems using structured problem-solving methodologies.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, manufacturing documentation, product definitions, and production requirements.
- Knowledge of manufacturing documentation, work instructions, process flows, tooling, fixtures, equipment, and production support processes.
- Ability to analyze non-conformities and support root-cause investigations and corrective actions.
- Ability to identify and appropriately escalate technical issues requiring additional engineering or design analysis.
- Strong technical writing, documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with engineering, quality, production, and other cross-functional organizations in a highly regulated manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work in regular or shift-based hours depending on operational and customer requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant technical or engineering discipline, or another closely related field applicable to manufacturing engineering.
- Relevant professional experience in manufacturing engineering, production engineering, process development, technical production support, or a related manufacturing discipline.
- Experience with manufacturing documentation, production processes, tooling, equipment, process improvement, and technical problem-solving.
- Experience in aerospace manufacturing is preferred but not required.
- Experience in aerospace, automotive, heavy equipment, medical device, or other manufacturing environments is preferred.
