Located in Wilmington, North Carolina, Sturdy Corporation has been a full-service provider of mechanical, electrical, electronic and software products for over 50 years. Operating from its "concept to completion" platform, the company has on-site capabilities to design, manufacture, validate and distribute world class products for the automotive, heavy truck, marine and industrial markets. Sturdy Corporation has an immediate opening for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to support manufacturing and engineering operations. This role partners closely with Product Managers, Product Engineers, Quality, and Manufacturing Technicians to improve processes, quality, efficiency, and cost performance. Key Responsibilities Develop, evaluate, and optimize manufacturing processes to meet product requirements. Analyze workflow, labor utilization, and facility space to improve efficiency. Design and implement manufacturing layouts, equipment placement, and production workflows. Create and maintain Operator Work Instructions (OWI) and PFMEA documentation; support Quality Work Instructions (QWI) and Control Plans in compliance with
ISO 9001
2015 . Ensure product and process quality through testing methods, process validation, and manufacturing standards. Collaborate with engineering and planning teams to ensure designs and tooling support efficient production. Work with vendors to specify, source, and implement manufacturing equipment and materials. Coordinate equipment maintenance and repairs to ensure operational reliability. Develop production estimates, staffing requirements, and cost analyses to support business decisions. Partner with management and cross-functional teams on production planning and manufacturing capabilities. Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost reduction, process stability, productivity, and quality enhancement. Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of Manufacturing Engineering experience . Experience with manufacturing startup and new production line implementation preferred. Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies. Proven success leading continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives. Experience with Fusion 360 programming . Strong problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
