Ownership:
100% Employee-Owned Company Thermcraft, Inc., a 100% employee-owned manufacturer located in Winston-Salem, NC, is seeking a versatile Mechatronics Design Engineer to lead product design, mechanical engineering, electromechanical systems, CAD design, SolidWorks modeling, product standardization, and continuous improvement across our industrial furnace and thermal processing equipment product lines. The ideal candidate combines strong mechanical design skills with a solid understanding of electrical components used in industrial equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Engineering Design & Product Development:
Design mechanical assemblies and systems using SolidWorks while developing detailed engineering drawings and bills of materials. Apply a strong understanding of industrial electrical components-including heaters, sensors, thermocouples, wiring, relays, switches, and control components-to ensure designs are functional, manufacturable, and standardized.
Component Standardization:
Evaluate existing products and establish preferred mechanical and electrical components to reduce part variation, simplify purchasing, improve serviceability, and promote reuse across product lines.
CAD & Engineering Documentation:
Create and maintain accurate 3D models, manufacturing drawings, configurable assemblies, engineering documentation, and standardized CAD libraries.
Process Development:
Develop engineering standards, design guidelines, and documentation processes that improve design consistency, reduce engineering time, and support efficient manufacturing.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities to reduce cost and improve manufacturability through value engineering, product simplification, and increased utilization of obsolete and slow-moving inventory.
Manufacturing Support:
Collaborate with Production, Purchasing, and Quality to resolve manufacturing issues, improve assembly processes, and support new product introductions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with Engineering, Operations, Sales, and Supply Chain to develop practical solutions that improve product quality, manufacturing efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
Experience:
5+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
Software Proficiency:
Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks and experience creating detailed engineering drawings and bills of materials.
Technical Knowledge:
Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, industrial electrical components, manufacturing processes, and design for manufacturability (DFM).
Continuous Improvement:
Experience with Lean Manufacturing, process improvement, value engineering, and component standardization is preferred.
Communication:
Strong problem-solving, organizational, and cross-functional communication skills. Adhere to our
