Engineering Manager Crary Industries is seeking a Design Engineer Co-op/Intern with anticipated start date in spring of 2027. All roles are based in the West Fargo location and are not remote eligible. This position is intended to provide real work job experience for an ambitious Sophomore or Junior college student that is actively pursuing an engineering degree. This will be a full-time position during the summer and postponement of the fall semester to continue full time employment through end of year 2027.
Position Purpose:
To prepare design concept layouts, detail layouts, component part sketches and/or detail drawings, parts list and provide liaison with Engineering technicians and machinists and manufacturing.
Education, Experience and Skills :
1. Pursuing a degree in Design, Agricultural or Mechanical Engineering from an approved engineering program. 2. Must possess good analytical, communication and human relations skills. 3. Must demonstrate a strong desire to find better solutions, along with creative talent.
Specific Responsibilities:
1. Develop design concept drawings and prepare layouts and required detail drawings. A. Working with supervisor or other designated Engineering personnel, establish time schedules for providing the necessary information and/or drawings as required for achieving project goals. B. Working with Supervisor, Lead Engineer and other Engineering personnel; establish preliminary design parameters and specifications. C. Prepare preliminary concept layouts for review by supervisor and other company personnel. D. Prepare detail layouts; perform required analysis for determining feasibility of components or sub-systems. E. Maintain project notes and calculations log book. 2. Prepare sketches and/or detail drawings as required, to allow the manufacture to procurement of prototype parts. 3. Work with Engineering technicians and machinists as required to identify and rectify manufacturing or assembly issues. 4. Provide assistance in estimating costs of design concepts as required. 5. Maintain knowledge of manufacturing capabilities and processes. 6. Gain knowledge of all Lockwood products.
