Full-Time Design the Future of Hydraulic Solutions Columbus Hydraulics is seeking talented and motivated engineers to join our Engineering team. We are hiring for both Design Engineer I and Design Engineer II positions based on experience and qualifications. In this role, you will contribute to the design, development, and continuous improvement of custom hydraulic cylinders from concept through full production. You will work closely with Sales, Manufacturing, Quality, and Production teams to deliver innovative, high-quality hydraulic solutions for our customers. What You'll Do Design and develop custom hydraulic cylinders and related components. Create and maintain 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation. Evaluate designs for manufacturability, cost effectiveness, and performance. Develop Bills of Materials (BOMs) and manufacturing routings. Support product quoting through material and labor estimates. Collaborate with Sales, Production, Purchasing, and Quality teams to provide technical support. Review engineering drawings and specifications for accuracy and completeness. Analyze customer requirements, test data, and engineering calculations. Assist with product testing, validation, and troubleshooting. Support root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives. Provide engineering support on the production floor as needed. Participate in Lean Manufacturing and process improvement projects. Qualifications Design Engineer I Education Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related engineering discipline. Experience Recent graduates and entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply and grow their careers with us. Internship, co-op, or manufacturing experience preferred. Skills Basic understanding of mechanical design and engineering principles. CAD experience preferred (Autodesk Inventor a plus). Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Desire to learn and grow within a manufacturing environment. Design Engineer II Education Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline required. Experience 3+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. Hydraulic cylinder design experience strongly preferred. Product design and development experience required. Skills Advanced CAD design experience (Autodesk Inventor preferred). Strong understanding of manufacturing processes including machining, welding, fabrication, assembly, and painting. Experience creating BOMs, engineering drawings, and manufacturing estimates. Knowledge of process improvement and Lean Manufacturing principles. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management abilities. Preferred Qualifications for Both Levels Manufacturing engineering experience. Knowledge of hydraulic systems. Experience supporting production and quality teams. Lean Manufacturing training or certification. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Self-motivated, proactive, and team-oriented mindset.
