Objectives:
The basic functions of the Manufacturing Engineer are to assist the Engineering Manager on sales inquiries and manufacturing support
  • through improvement and standardization of manufacturing methods and control.
Assist in the procurement of equipment and machinery for the company. Stay abreast of the latest in manufacturing technologies, implement them to enhance production efficiency. Recommend and implement capital (machine) expenditure to maintain a competitive advantage in the marketplace. Be able to justify those expenditures by showing a favorable rate of return.
Functions:
Manufacturing Support Oversee all quality control functions including first article, in-process and final inspections, performance testing and incoming goods inspection Provide support to manufacturing including trouble-shooting and failure analysis process RMAs
  • inspection and estimate of repairs
  • focusing on product quality issues Ensure shop people follow the procedures and drawings Making new CNC G code programs for Tsugami, Okuma, Mazak CNC machining equipment Continuous Improvement Identify quality issues and recommend solutions Develop, evaluate and improve manufacturing processes Initiate ECN to implement the change and follow through the change to ensure success Investigate quality issues generated by RMA's and customer inquiries and react with MRB's or ECN as required to initiate corrective action Shop Routings (Job Confirmation) for assigned product codes Review and maintain existing routing prior to production and job confirmation Make sure drawing is up to date Review job quantity, EBQ, structure and routing, drawing Recommend substitute or alternate manufacture when required Review imploded cost and request cost change if required Close jobs after the job is completed in a budget Material Number Creation and Costing/Maintenance Update the ERP system with regards to tracking information and material descriptions Maintain stock codes/part numbers•including description, structure and routing, EBQ and cost Procurement of Material Use technical knowledge of industry to order necessary material, equipment and machinery parts Source required suppliers and material for jobs and projects Communicate equipment/material needs to suppliers Negotiate costs and contracts & finding new vendors to reduce the cost and to improve quality Inspect materials for quality assurance Qualifications and Skills Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering required 4+ years' experience in product manufacturing required Strong knowledge of CAD/CAM software and drafting procedures required
