General Motors — BIW Material Integration Engineer Lead BIW material integration, material flow, and automation strategies for assigned plants, commodities, or vehicle programs. Develop and implement 4-wall material handling strategies that improve safety, efficiency, quality, and sustainability. Identify opportunities to optimize material movement, handling, storage, and delivery within manufacturing operations. Design and implement automated material handling equipment and systems for BIW manufacturing. Lead projects from concept and feasibility through design, installation, launch, and shop-floor implementation . Develop automation roadmaps including technology selection, project timing, resource requirements, and costs . Partner with strategic suppliers to develop, install, and optimize material handling and automation solutions . Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Logistics/GPSC, Safety, Quality, Product Engineering, Purchasing, IT, and other stakeholders. Work directly with plant teams to identify problems and implement practical material optimization solutions . Lead root-cause analysis and problem-solving activities related to material flow and manufacturing processes. Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for automation and manufacturing improvement projects. Apply Lean Manufacturing, LMS, Industrial Engineering, and continuous improvement principles to optimize processes. Support vehicle and manufacturing launch activities , particularly material management and material flow planning. Develop innovative Factory of the Future material handling concepts and technologies. Evaluate emerging technologies and industry best practices to improve manufacturing performance and operational efficiency . Coordinate with containerization and logistics partners to establish material packaging, delivery, and handling solutions . Provide project leadership and oversight to small teams, suppliers, and external partners . Develop and deliver training on new technologies, equipment, processes, and material strategies. Communicate project status, timing, costs, and recommendations through leadership presentations, master schedules, and project documentation .
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field; 4-6+ years of automotive manufacturing experience; expertise in material flow/handling and automation; strong analytical, communication, project management, and problem-solving skills; willingness to travel and work overtime/off-shifts.
Pay:
$87,879.40 - $105,833.26 per year
