Job Description

The Industrial Layout Engineer is responsible for designing and maintaining the physical architecture of our production environment. You will own the 2D and 3D workstation layouts, ensuring that equipment, material presentation, and operator workflows are optimized for space and productivity. You will be the primary link between the engineering design and the physical installation, performing field checks to ensure the plant floor reflects the master plan.
Core Responsibilities Workstation Design:
Develop and maintain detailed 2D and 3D workstation layouts using AutoCAD in strict alignment with production flow and plant constraints.
Material Logistics:
Identify and specify specialized equipment for material presentation on the layout to ensure efficient part delivery and operator ergonomics.
On-Site Verification:
Perform frequent field checks to identify "monuments" (immovable objects) and confirm that digital layouts match the physical reality of the plant floor.
Installation Support:
Provide accurate build and installation drawings to the facilities team; participate in pilot builds and process validation to troubleshoot and resolve layout-related design issues.
Lean & Continuous Improvement:
Apply Lean Manufacturing principles to eliminate waste, improve space utilization, and enhance operator productivity and ergonomics.
Documentation & Change Control:
Maintain master station documentation, manage drawing revisions, and keep rigorous design change logs to ensure data integrity.
Launch Readiness:
Collaborate with Area Leads to ensure the plant footprint is fully prepared and optimized for upcoming vehicle build events.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering.
Experience:
3+ years in plant layout, facilities engineering, or industrial design within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
Technical Proficiency:
Advanced skills in AutoCAD (2D & 3D) ; experience with 3D factory modeling software is a plus.
Lean Knowledge:
Practical experience with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and Ergonomics.
Problem Solving:
Ability to read complex blueprints and translate them into physical builds while managing design changes on the fly.
Communication:
Strong ability to work cross-functionally with Build Teams, Area Leads, and Manufacturing Engineering. Why Join Us? In this role, you aren't just drawing lines on a screen—you are architecting the physical flow of a major manufacturing facility. You will see your designs come to life as you manage the installation of the very stations you created.
