Position Summary:
We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to create, document, develop, and implement procedures used to assemble, process, test and/or manufacture products. Will design, implement, monitor and maintain manufacturing processes. Consult with design engineers to achieve the most efficient and cost-effective way of producing the highest quality product possible.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with leaders, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes. Troubleshoot and resolve production process blocks. Assis with making changes to tooling, equipment, processes, or methods as required. Recommend and implement design and processing changes to improve yields, quality, and reduce costs. Establish labor standards, and select raw materials based on Engineering requirements.
Provide manufacturing engineering support for:
design reviews, new product development, Change Review Board activities, product and process validation and testing, and make/buy analysis. Interface with Engineering on new products, updates, design for manufacturability, and ongoing manufacturing issues. Interface with suppliers and participate in supplier evaluation. Assist with cost estimates and quotations for new products, product changes, upgrades, and one-off special projects. Support shop floor and assembly line activities by identifying new methods, tooling, and fixturing. Understand, use, and propagate the use of Lean Manufacturing techniques, Continuous Improvement, and quality tools. Evaluate, select, and justify selection of Capital Equipment. Prepare and maintain documentation and procedures required for product manufacturing. (SOP'S) Work with operations leaders to identify operational issues affecting production and deal with them in a systematic, methodical manner. Improve existing operations incorporating new methods, processes, and training. Work with cross-functional teams to deliver cost savings by selecting new materials and manufacturing Processes. Drive cost saving projects to successful completion using the stage-gate method. Experience with VAVE and ability to deliver against the yearly VAVE savings budget. Work with EHS to ensure environmental health and safety standards are met within production areas. Investigate operational problems affecting production and deal with them in a systematic, methodical manner. Review drawing packages (tolerance analysis). Generate and update assembly documentation (travelers/work instructions). Control manufacturing costs by working with design engineers and tooling teams for creative manufacturing and assembly methods. (Fixture design) Provide production floor support for new product introductions (NPI).
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing Engineering and 5+ years of experience. Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt or Blackbelt preferred. Familiar with machine shop processes, tools, and equipment. Working knowledge of CNC equipment, CAD and Solidworks software, as well as inspection equipment. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
