Job Description
Design Engineer Posted on February 3, 2026 February 3, 2026 by JMJ Phillip We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Design Engineer to support the design and analysis of steel storage tanks and pressure vessels across a variety of industrial applications. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with engineering, drafting, and sales teams to deliver safe, compliant, and cost-effective designs. While a Professional Engineer (PE) license is not required, candidates with a PE are strongly encouraged to apply. Position Responsibilities Engineering Design & Analysis Provide technical expertise in the design and analysis of pressure vessels in accordance with ASME Section VIII, Division I. Design above- and below-ground storage tanks in compliance with UL and API standards. Perform seismic and wind calculations for tanks and vessels as required. Drafting & Technical Collaboration Support the drafting team in developing detailed engineering drawings and 3D models using CAD software. Review designs for accuracy, compliance, and constructability. Project & Cross-Functional Support Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project deliverables are completed on time and within budget. Assist the Inside Sales team with preliminary designs to support project quotations. Standards & Continuous Improvement Stay current with applicable industry codes, standards, and best practices. Contribute to process improvements and technical documentation as needed. Prerequisites Bachelor's degree in Structural, Civil, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. Experience managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines. Strong analytical skills with the ability to exercise sound engineering judgment. Effective communication and teamwork skills. Certifications (Preferred, but Not Required) Professional Engineer (PE) license. Prior experience designing storage tanks and pressure vessels. What the Role Offers Target base salary around $85,000 for candidates without a PE. Compensation may increase up to $100,000 based on experience, credentials, and possession of a PE license.
