Job Description

Job Summary The CNC Programmer is responsible for CNC programs, tooling and process evaluation, selection and improvement. The individual is responsible for developing cost reduction ideas and for implementing cost improvement plans to meet company financial goals, to plan, implement and measure the results of engineering projects and to supply engineering support in a company environment where the challenges vary as business shifts. Providing technical support to the production lines, the CNC Programmer will work directly with Engineers, Set-up team members, Production Operators, Team Leaders, Purchasing, Materials, Quality and other support departments.

No supervisory responsibility.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Plans, creates and implements CNC programs and tooling plans. May need to modify existing programs from time-to-time as required by manufacturing. 2. Maintains existing program revision levels and makes them available to manufacturing. 3. Plans and implements current and new engineering projects and measures the results achieved. 4. Evaluates tooling, processes and systems for modification or replacement. Procures replacement or new tooling when necessary. 5. Evaluates operating costs and implements cost improvement plans in all areas to meet company financial goals. 6. Prepares bids and proposals for current and future customers, as well as equipment and tooling procurement. 7. Develops technical training programs for professional and hourly employees. 8. Researches, recommends and develops new manufacturing processes and promotes customer contact on related projects. 9. Provides engineering problem solving support throughout the facility on all issues pertaining to producing the end product. 10. Promotes the use of SmartCam throughout the company. 11. Contributes articles to the company newsletter to promote ideas and continuous improvement. 12. Work closely with team members to provide a safe work environment. Identify and eliminate safety and housekeeping hazards to minimize workplace accidents.
EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
1. Requires a minimum high school diploma with two (2) years advanced education in CAD, blueprint reading, CNC programming or equivalent. 2. A minimum five to seven years experience in a machine shop with at least four years hands-on machining and three years programming. 3. Must be able to read and interpret blueprints with strong knowledge and experience of machine processes and tooling. 4. Is CAM knowledgeable, understands cutting tool geometry and is able to apply it. 5. Must have strong PC abilities utilizing word processing, spreadsheets, CAD, database and scheduling tools.. 6. Must possess an organized and professional approach to managing projects, displaying strong analytical skills, ability to learn new technologies and a strong machining base from which to build on. 7. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. 8. Must be highly organized to handle multiple priorities.
Pay:
$75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
