We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Special Trackwork Design Engineer to join our Engineering team in Memphis, Tennessee . This position provides an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or early-career engineers to develop expertise in the design, analysis, and production of railroad special trackwork systems, including turnouts, crossovers, crossings, and yard layouts. Working alongside experienced engineers and industry experts, you will contribute to projects supporting freight railroads, transit agencies, industrial facilities, and rail infrastructure improvements across North America.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Assists with the design and detailing of special trackwork components Creates and revises engineering drawings using AutoCAD (computer assisted design) Develops track geometry layouts and verifies compliance with customer and industry standards Supports manufacturing documentation, bill of materials creation, and drawing releases Performs engineering calculations related to track geometry, rail sections, and component fit-up Collaborates with manufacturing, project management, and field personnel to resolve design issues Conducts design reviews and quality checks of engineering deliverables
What You'll Learn:

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in: Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related engineering discipline Basic understanding of engineering design principles and drafting practices Proficiency with AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar CAD software Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a team environment Ability to travel as needed (up to 10% of the time) Ability to work on-site in
Memphis, Tennessee Preferred Qualifications:
Internship or co-op experience in railroad, manufacturing, transportation, or heavy industrial environments Familiarity with railroad track systems or transportation engineering Experience reading manufacturing drawings and technical specifications Exposure to geometric design or structural analysis concepts Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or progress toward obtaining EIT Previous experience in an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system such as Microsoft Business Central, SAP, AS400, MAS 90 / Sage 100 Atlantic Track offers a holistic benefits package, including competitive pay, 401k plan with company matching funds, health / dental / vision insurance options, life insurance, paid time off, an employee shared ownership plan, and more.
