Job Description

Who We Are PAC is a leading global provider of advanced analytical instruments for laboratories and process environments in hydrocarbon processing industries. Customers choose PAC's instruments to provide the cutting-edge technology required to maintain regulatory compliance and to improve productivity. Your Role The Manufacturing Engineering Intern will support continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, and operational analytics initiatives across PAC, USON, and CVI product lines at the Houston facility. The role combines hands-on time-and-motion study, ERP-driven data analysis, and CAD-based design support, providing the intern with direct exposure to small-batch instrumentation manufacturing and the floor-level constraints that inform downstream new product development. Operational Analysis & Continuous Improvement
  • Conduct time-and-motion studies on assigned production processes, capturing a minimum of ten observation cycles per operation
  • Analyze process variability using coefficient-of-variation methodology and identify outlier conditions
  • Draft standard work documentation including operator instructions, takt time targets, and visual work aids
  • Extract and analyze ERP data to support inventory, material flow, and process improvement decisions
  • Conduct ABC analysis, pick-frequency studies, and slotting or layout recommendations as assigned
  • Identify obsolete and slow-moving inventory candidates for review and disposition Engineering & Design Support
  • Develop CAD sketches and detailed drawings of fixtures, tooling, workstation modifications, and storage or facility layouts
  • Produce visual management tools, production tracking templates, and standardized procedural documentation for floor deployment
  • Support pilot implementation of process improvements by collecting before/after performance data General
  • Prepare weekly written progress summaries and a final project presentation to operations leadership
  • Participate in continuous improvement events and SQDIP reviews as a data resource Required Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited engineering program
  • Cumulative GPA 3.0 or higher
  • Proficiency in CAD modeling and detailing (preferably SolidWorks); ability to produce detailed part drawings with GD&T
  • Proficiency in Microsoft products, specifically Excel
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work on a manufacturing floor wearing required PPE Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior project experience involving CAD assemblies, BOM construction, or manufacturing documentation
  • Engineering course work in manufacturing, engineering design, and Lean & Six Sigma principles
  • Experience working with fluid handling and electrotechnical systems. Learning Outcomes
