Job Summary KP Staffing is now hiring Head of design & engineerings in Houston, TX! The Head of design & engineering will lead the design and engineering function supporting a growing manufacturing operation in Houston. This role provides technical and organizational leadership across the design, development, manufacturing, and delivery of modular and prefabricated electrical and mechanical systems. Pay $160,000+ year Shift first shift Duties Lead the overall design and engineering function for the Houston operation Provide technical leadership for modular and prefabricated electrical and mechanical systems Oversee engineering and design activities from concept through manufacturing and project delivery Review and approve engineering drawings, technical specifications, schematics, calculations, and design documentation Ensure designs are technically accurate, manufacturable, scalable, and aligned with project and customer requirements Establish and continuously improve engineering standards, processes, procedures, and documentation Partner closely with manufacturing and operations to drive design-for-manufacturing, constructability, and production efficiency Identify opportunities to standardize designs, components, and manufacturing processes Support technical troubleshooting and root-cause resolution throughout production and project execution Collaborate with quality, procurement, supply chain, operations, and project management Provide technical guidance, coaching, and leadership to engineering and design team members Support the development and expansion of the engineering organization as the Houston operation grows Ensure engineering activities meet applicable customer, quality, safety, and industry requirements Responsibilities Lead technical teams, projects, and engineering functions Provide technical guidance, coaching, and leadership to engineering and design team members Support the development and expansion of the engineering organization Partner effectively with production teams Establish standards and improve manufacturability Qualifications Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related engineering discipline 10+ years of progressive engineering experience within manufacturing, modular construction, prefabrication, industrial systems, or a related technical environment 5+ years of engineering or design leadership experience, including responsibility for leading technical teams, projects, or engineering functions Strong knowledge of electrical and/or mechanical system design Ability to review and interpret complex engineering drawings, schematics, specifications, and technical documentation Experience working closely with manufacturing and production teams Strong understanding of design-for-manufacturing and constructability principles Experience establishing engineering processes, standards, and documentation Strong technical problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional leadership skills Preferred experience with modular or prefabricated electrical/mechanical systems Preferred experience with data centers or mission-critical infrastructure Preferred experience with prefabricated electrical rooms or modular power systems Preferred experience with switchgear, power distribution, electrical enclosures, or engineered equipment packages Preferred experience with mechanical skids or modular mechanical systems Preferred experience with off-site manufacturing or prefabrication Preferred experience with greenfield/startup manufacturing operations Experience building or scaling an engineering team Job Type Direct Hire
