Job Description
Bonnell Aluminum seeks a professional with strong knowledge of product and process development to support the evaluation, quoting, and launch of new products and business opportunities within the aluminum extrusion industry. The Engineering Tech position serves as a technical resource supporting quoting, Product Design, CAD development, ERP setup, product data management, and new product introductions. This position Reports to the New Products Engineering Manager & works closely with Sales, Engineering, Operations, and Manufacturing to develop manufacturing plans that support customer requirements and business objectives.
Essential Functions:
Review and interpret customer drawings and specifications to develop manufacturing documentation and quote inputs. Create and maintain CAD models, Q-Solid files, manufacturing drawings, and supporting technical documentation. Support the quoting process through the development of manufacturing routings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), item master records, and cost-estimating inputs. Interface with quoting systems to develop manufacturing cost estimates and effective routing plans aimed at supporting quality, productivity, and customer requirements. Support the launch of new products through the development and maintenance of manufacturing documentation and ERP setup. Interface with business systems (ERP, MES, and quoting software) to create and maintain routing, BOMs, item masters, and standardized manufacturing costs. Effectively communicate technical manufacturing information and product requirements to Sales, Engineering, Operations, and customers. Execute changes to Drawings, 3D CAD, Routing, BOM's as part of Engineering Change Management. Gain and apply an understanding of aluminum extrusion manufacturing processes, fabrication operations, and material properties including temper, tensile strength, hardness, and alloy composition. Support Product Development Engineers with product launches, APQP activities, and Design & Development projects. Ensure product data accuracy and completeness prior to release for manufacturing. Assist New Product Engineers with Technical CAD modeling, drawing development, documentation, and project deliverables related to process development, tooling, manufacturing fixtures, and automation projects.Qualifications:
Bachelors in Drafting Technology, Product Design, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or related field. Minimum 2 years' Experience Working with SolidWorks. Moderate to Advanced Understanding of Design, Fits, Weldments, Assemblies. Moderate Understanding of Drafting Manufacturing Prints with Tolerances & GD&T.
