An Additive Manufacturing Engineer develops and executes manufacturing process plans for additive manufacturing, which use a range of laser-based or advanced printing techniques to build up models layer by layer. Improves processes and plans, designs and executes tooling requirements. Develops operator training courses.
3D Printing Prototyping Specialist (DfAM) Do you like turning CAD ideas into real parts the same day? Are you energized by advising teams on how to design for additive—and then proving it on the printer? What you'll do Build prototypes, fixtures, tooling, and components using a variety of additive manufacturing systems. Serve as a go-to partner for our Additive Manufacturing Hub customers—providing DfAM guidance and clarifying application requirements via email, phone, virtual meetings, and on-site conversations.
Translate concepts into manufacturable prints:
interpret 3D CAD, tooling schematics, and prototype/product drawings; apply basic GD&T.
Own your queue:
schedule, prioritize, and execute prototype builds with minimal supervision. Set up, change over, run, and tear down machines efficiently and safely. Validate outcomes with CMM and 3D laser scanning; document results in both paper travelers and electronic systems. Finish parts through in-house machining where appropriate, or coordinate with external vendors. Champion safety, ergonomics, and environmental practices while keeping the lab clean, calibrated, and well-maintained. Share insights with leadership to continually elevate Petersburg's additive capabilities. Tackle other duties that move product and process development forward. Is this you? Hands-on problem solver with mechanical aptitude; experience in industrial/additive settings is a plus. Comfortable on your feet throughout the shift; able to lift, push, and pull 10-50 lbs. Ready to wear required PPE and work effectively in a manufacturing environment.
