Job Description
Simmonds Precision is an aerospace equipment supplier. We are seeking a highly organized, strategic, experienced, and results-oriented Principle Project Engineer to lead multidisciplinary engineering projects from inception to completion. Operating at the intersection of design and project management, you will translate project goals into actionable plans, ensuring technical solutions are implemented efficiently, on time, and within budget. The ideal candidate thrives in dynamic environments, excels at stakeholder communication, and acts as a proactive problem. What You Will Do Convert customer requests into proposals by defining project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with senior leadership and key stakeholders. Convert proposals into detailed project plans upon contract award. Manage the end-to-end execution of new product introduction (NPI) engineering projects ensuring compliance with safety regulations, industry standards, and customer requirements. Lead cross-functional Engineering teams (Systems, Software, Mechanical, and Electrical) resolving conflicts, and delegating tasks to achieve project objectives. Analyze, identify, and address execution problems; recommend and implement solutions to ensure the successful completion of project(s). Track project cost and schedule performance to plan, updates estimates when needed, and present to senior leadership and key stakeholders. Work collaboratively with Programs, Production, Quality and Supply Chain to transition products to manufacturing. Participate in continuous improvement efforts for project execution efficiency. Qualifications You Must Have Undergraduate degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM). Minimum of eight years of proven, progressive experience in new product introduction (NPI) engineering project management or a similar role. Logical thinking, creative problem-solving, and leadership abilities. Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills. Experience presenting project performance to leadership and/or customers. Experience with MS Office Suite, including MS Project. Understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM). Experience with project management tools (RAILs, burndowns, staffing forecasts, critical path analysis, etc.). Experience with risk and opportunity management. Must be a U.S. Citizen. Qualifications We Prefer Master's degree in engineering or business. Hands-on experience in aerospace product development, including design and integration of electrical systems. PMI certification. Familiarity with aerospace and avionics industry standards (MIL-STD-810, DO-160, DO-178, etc.). Leading root cause investigations.
