About Inline Photonics:
Inline Photonics is a leading developer of advanced fiber-optic test and control instruments, including polarization control systems, optical power meters, and PER measurement tools. We are committed to delivering high-performance, compact, and cost-effective solutions for R D, manufacturing, and field applications in telecommunications, sensing, and optical component industries.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a hands-on and detail-oriented Electronics and Assembly Technician to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will support the assembly, testing, calibration, shipping, and troubleshooting of fiber-optic instruments and electronics. This role requires practical experience with basic test equipment, soldering techniques, schematic reading, and mechanical assembly.
Key Responsibilities:
Assemble, solder, and rework printed circuit boards (PCB) with surface-mount and through-hole components Perform electrical and optical testing of subassemblies and final systems using oscilloscopes, multimeters, optical power meters, and other standard lab instruments Prepare finished items and components for shipment while ensuring quality standards Read and interpret electrical schematics, assembly drawings, and mechanical diagrams Conduct incoming inspection and verification of electronic and mechanical parts Collaborate with engineers to identify and resolve technical issues during prototyping and production Support quality assurance and production improvement initiatives Perform other manufacturing and assembly tasks assigned by supervisor
Requirements:
Associate degree in electronics, mechatronics, or related field; or equivalent hands-on experience Proficient in using basic test instruments: multimeter, oscilloscope, signal generator, etc. Skilled in hand soldering and reworking both SMT and through-hole components Able to read and understand electronic schematics and basic mechanical drawings Experience with PCB assembly and electro-mechanical system integration Strong attention to detail and ability to follow assembly and test procedures Good manual dexterity and experience handling delicate optical and electronic components Prior experience in fiber optics or photonics is a plus but not required
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with ESD safety practices Experience with fiber-optic cleaning, handling, and testing Basic knowledge of calibration techniques and quality control
