Position Summary The Zeta Plus Line Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the Zeta Plus depth filtration media production line. This role supports continuous slurry processing and media formation using diatomaceous earth, water, cellulose fiber (paper pulp), and resin systems, and actively adjusts process parameters to maintain output within published quality specifications. Operators are accountable for line performance, product quality (including airflow and tensile strength), documentation accuracy, completion of assigned preventive maintenance tasks, and maintaining required training qualifications. This position plays a critical role in delivering high-quality filtration media that meet customer, regulatory, and internal standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Process Ownership & Line Operation Operate the Zeta Plus production line in accordance with standard work instructions, Manufacturing Line Clearance (MLC) parameters, and safety requirements. Monitor line conditions and take proactive action to maintain process stability and product quality. Make real-time adjustments to process parameters (e.g., slurry flow/consistency, extractor settings, oven conditions, line speed) to maintain specification. Set up and operate die cutters, including die change-out and rail adjustments, to meet dimensional requirements. Ensure finished material consistently meets published quality specifications for airflow and tensile strength. Exercise authority to stop production if safety, quality, or equipment performance is at risk. Quality Monitoring & Testing Perform required in-process quality checks including airflow testing and tensile strength verification. Interpret test results and adjust process parameters as needed to maintain compliance with specifications. Accurately enter test data and production information into the QA database. Verify accuracy of batch documentation, labeling, and production records (lot traceability and work order accuracy). Preventive Maintenance & Equipment Care Complete assigned operator preventive maintenance (PM) tasks in accordance with established schedules and procedures (ex: tank cleanings, etc.) Perform routine inspections and basic troubleshooting of equipment (extractor, clearing oven jams, die cutter, and auxiliary systems). Document maintenance activities accurately. Report equipment malfunctions or abnormal conditions promptly. Support product changeovers and ensure equipment readiness for the next production run. Compliance & Documentation Complete all production and quality documentation accurately and on time. Maintain compliance with GMP (where applicable), safety, environmental, and company standards. Follow standard work instructions and approved workflow processes. Handle materials, including hazardous waste when required, in accordance with company policy and regulatory guidelines; when running resin grades containing formaldehyde, must be medically cleared and fit-tested to wear an Air Purifying Respirator (APR). Safety & Continuous Improvement Adhere to all plant and departmental safety policies. Maintain a clean, organized, and audit-ready work area. Identify and report safety hazards, process risks, or quality concerns. Participate in Practical Process Improvement (PPI) initiatives to enhance safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance. May require handling hazardous waste. May be assigned other miscellaneous duties (including training) by department supervision/leadership. Must perform all essential functions of the position as identified on the applicable Employer Job Description maintained in the Occupational Health Office. Basic Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand and adjust production equipment. Ability to interpret airflow and tensile quality data and make appropriate process adjustments. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards. Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and stand for extended periods. 2+ years of work experience in manufacturing, operations, production, lab setting or related field is preferred. Basic knowledge of machinery is preferred. Physical Requirements / Work Environment This role entails standing for long periods, operating machinery, and handling materials. Compensation and Benefits The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in Connecticut is $20.72-$31.08. This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
