Filler Operator - 3rd Shift Job Description The 3rd shift filler operator plays a key role in safely and efficiently operating filling and packaging equipment on a 2/2/3 schedule from 5:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. This position supports food manufacturing production lines by setting up machines, monitoring quality, performing minor mechanical adjustments, and assisting with cleaning and compliance activities. The role offers hands-on work with processing machinery in a fast-paced environment and opportunities to grow into advanced production and leadership positions. Responsibilities Operate filling and packaging equipment on the production line, ensuring consistent, efficient, and safe output. Perform daily and weekly preventative maintenance tasks on machinery, including adjusting and aligning all primary machine functions. Make minor mechanical repairs and replace designated defective parts to keep equipment running smoothly. Set up jobs on machines by feeding containers onto the conveyor line and entering product information into computer systems. Conduct quality audits on filled products, confirming that maximum and minimum fill lines are met and product standards are maintained. Assist with packing and production activities at the end of each line as needed to meet production goals. Stop machines and help break them down for clean-in-place (CIP) procedures, including mechanically disassembling equipment components, which may involve working with water and cleaning solutions. Maintain strict compliance with GMP and
HACCP/FDA
regulations for food manufacturing, including accurate daily production records and quality reports. Support the training of production assistants on GMP requirements, safety rules, and proper equipment operation. Use appropriate hand tools to perform basic mechanical tasks and adjustments on processing machinery. Follow all safety protocols, including the use of required personal protective equipment and adherence to facility rules. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to troubleshoot issues, minimize downtime, and continuously improve line performance. Essential Skills Experience operating machinery in a production or manufacturing environment, such as machine operator, packaging operator, filler operator, or processing machine operator roles. At least 3 years of recent experience in a highly mechanical role, such as diesel mechanic, automotive mechanic, mechanical assembler, or maintenance technician, is strongly preferred. Hands-on experience with food processing or food manufacturing equipment is highly valued. Ability to use hand tools safely and effectively for mechanical adjustments and minor repairs. Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate fills, proper machine settings, and compliance with quality standards. Capability to learn and follow GMP and

regulations and apply them consistently in daily work. Comfort working with computer systems to enter product information and run machine programs. Solid work history demonstrating reliability, punctuality, and commitment to workplace safety. Ability to communicate clearly and present well during interviews and in day-to-day interactions. Willingness to work 3rd shift (5:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.) on a 2/2/3 schedule in a fast-paced production environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Prior experience in food manufacturing or food processing environments is a strong plus. Previous experience as a production line operator or working on high-speed production lines is beneficial. Background in machine operation within packaging or filling operations is advantageous. Familiarity with GMP standards and food safety practices is preferred. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude, including troubleshooting and basic equipment maintenance. Work Environment This role is based in the loudest area of a food manufacturing facility, where food processing platforms operate in close proximity and machinery runs continuously, creating a strong, constant hum. Hearing protection is required in this area. The environment can become very warm, especially during the summer months, due to ongoing equipment operation and limited climate control. The space has strong sauce-based food aromas, including mustard, barbecue sauce, and various pungent dressings. Work involves direct interaction with processing machines, conveyor lines, and hand tools, as well as participation in clean-in-place procedures that may involve exposure to water and cleaning solutions. Employees work 3rd shift hours from 5:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. on a 2/2/3 schedule, supporting continuous production in a fast-paced, industrial food processing setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chambersburg, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.48 - $22.48/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
