CNC Beam line Operator

Job Summary ESA Steel Services is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious CNC Beam Line Operator to join our structural steel fabrication team. In this role, you will set up, operate, and maintain the CNC beam processing equipment (such as the Advantage-2, Peddi writer, or similar drill/saw lines) to accurately drill, saw, mill, scribe, tap, and process structural steel beams, channels, and other profiles according to shop drawings and project specifications. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with CNC structural steel equipment and be committed to producing high-quality parts efficiently while maintaining a safe work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate the CNC beam drill lines, saws, and associated equipment, including loading/unloading material.
• Read and interpret structural steel shop drawings, blueprints, and CNC programs to ensure accurate processing (drilling, sawing, milling, scribing, countersinking, tapping, etc.).
• Select appropriate carbide tooling, Calibrate, and monitor machine performance for optimal output.
• Perform quality inspections on processed material using various measuring tools (tape measures, calipers, etc.) to verify dimensions and hole locations meet tolerances.
• Troubleshoot minor machine issues, perform routine maintenance, and coordinate with maintenance personnel for major repairs.
• Maintain accurate production records, including material usage, completed parts, and any non-conformances.
• Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of PPE, machine guarding, and lockout/tagout procedures.
• Work collaboratively with fitters, welders, and other fabricators to ensure a timely project completion.
• Keep the work area clean and organized.

Qualifications:

Proven experience operating CNC beam drill lines or similar structural steel processing equipment (Peddinghaus, or equivalent strongly preferred). Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and blueprints. Basic knowledge of CNC programming and machine controls. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Good mathematical and measurement skills. High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school certification in CNC or fabrication is a plus. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience specifically with Peddinghaus Advantage-2, Peddi Writer,or other Peddinghaus beam lines. Knowledge of structural steel grades and fabrication processes. Familiarity with nesting software or DSTV files for CNC beam processing. Experience in a structural steel fabrication shop environment. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods (8-10 hours per shift). Capable of lifting 50 lbs. regularly and heavier loads with mechanical assistance. Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity. Willingness to work in a shop environment with exposure to dust, noise, and varying temperatures.

Pay:

$23.70 - $28.54 per hour
