We are a manufacturing company in Wheeling, IL looking for a hands-on Lab Technician. The work involves weighing, measuring and mixing materials using specific formulas and critical timing factors. Must be physically capable as well as comfortable working with corrosive chemicals in an industrial/manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities include:

Chemical Cleaning Room (Typically no more than 3 times per week) Follows procedures as written. Lifts up to 50lbs of containers filled with solid base or liquid acid.

• Moves 55-gallon drums containing acid & base chemical from one location to another using drum transport equipment. Operates industrial burners to melt mixes of solid (base) chemicals. Performs chemical cleaning of abrasive materials which includes measuring acid & base chemicals in a precise manner and adhering to all Personal Protective Equipment requirements. Performs routine acid & base waste management activities which includes the transferring of large volumes of acid & base chemical, use of a pH meter, use of a half mask respirator and recording pH results on a log. Clean room Follows procedures as written. Records product output. Performs complex grading operations with specific parameters if/when required. Accurately weighs and pours material in wet and dry state into containers and mixing equipment. Weighs correct amount of material during packaging procedure. Performs the safe operation of grading machines, centrifuge equipment, auto dispersion machines, milling machines, particle size analyzers, liquid density instrument, pH, and conductivity meter.
