Lenexa, KS Job Summary and Purpose:
This position is within the Chicken Embryo Origin area and is responsible for working with a range of technologies and equipment needed for the manufacture of antigens using chicken embryos for viral/bacterial growth. The Manufacturing procedures include but are not limited to: centrifugation, sterilization, incubation, candling eggs, area cleaning, aseptic techniques, assisting with the operations of manual and semi-automatic equipment for the use of inoculation and harvesting antigens (fluid and tissues). This position requires basic knowledge of handling pressurized vessels. This position will handle culture of microorganisms and propagation techniques, preparation of solutions and equipment, following aseptic techniques, good documentation practices and cGMP procedures.Responsibilities and Key Duties:
Aseptically set up laboratory for manufacturing procedures Perform environmental monitoring during aseptic procedures. Work with chemicals, steam, and pressurized vessels Operate general production equipment such as autoclaves, pumps, scales, bio-welders/sealers, etc. Utilize acceptable PPE and follow safety procedures Ability to receive, disinfect, transfer, and candle eggs Use aseptic technique during processes Use proper inoculation/harvest techniques to maintain processes with established control parameters and prevent contamination. Disassemble equipment for cleaning and sterilization and be capable of reassembling them aseptically Document and maintain activity records according to good documentation practices. Prepare solutions, buffers, and media while following SOPs, solution records, and cGMP guidelines Perform daily cleaning and sanitation laboratories, equipment, and production area Physical transfer of antigens to different locations Collaborate with other team members inside and outside the department. Functional Competencies:
Must be able to become gown certified. Excellent interpersonal and organization skills Good self-discipline and strong attention to details Technical expertise Follow proper documentation procedures Ability to work both independently and in a fast-paced team environment Good math and computer skills Analytical thinking Flexible with work hours; willing to work outside of scheduled hours, including holidays and weekends, as necessary Strong planning and time-management skills Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Demonstrate basic mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skillsQualifications:
Education- High school diploma or equivalent, required, Associates degree in a life-science field is a plus Work Experience
- Laboratory manufacturing experience, beneficial but not required
