R D Production Technician - Marlborough, MA IPG Photonics United States, Massachusetts, Marlborough Aug 18, 2026 Position Summary Working under the direction of Scientific Production Engineers, scientists, and other engineers; R D and Production Technician performs advanced hands-on optical and electro-optical assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and basic R D activities. Primary Responsibilities Assemble, align, calibrate, and test high-performance laser and optical amplifier products units, including prototype builds and R D support. Perform precision fiber-optic assembly, fusion splicing, and optical alignment. Carry out optical and electrical testing, standard and custom measurements. Troubleshoot equipment and product issues and assist engineers with failure analysis and root-cause investigations. Record and analyze test data and maintain accurate production and laboratory documentation. Technical Expertise Troubleshoot and support analog and digital control electronics. Requirements Education:
Associate degree or technical certificate from an accredited technical school or college in Electronics, Photonics, Optics, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a closely related technical field. Equivalent relevant hands-on technical experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
Experience:
2-4 years of relevant experience in fiber optics, photonics, lasers, electronics, optical systems, or related R D/manufacturing environments. Hands-on experience with fiber-optic assembly, fusion splicing, optical testing, laser characterization, and troubleshooting is strongly preferred. Ability to read and follow engineering drawings, technical procedures, schematics, and test specifications. IND123 #ZR
