Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m., with occasional Saturday overtime opportunities Position Overview Frost River is looking for a dependable, detail-oriented Industrial Sewing Technician to join our production team in Duluth's Lincoln Park Craft District. For more than two decades, Frost River has manufactured durable waxed canvas and leather goods right here in Duluth. Our sewing team produces canoe packs, daypacks, luggage, shoulder bags, briefcases, accessories, and more using waxed canvas, leather, solid brass hardware, and other specialty materials. We also take on contract manufacturing projects, giving our production team opportunities to work with different materials, construction methods, and products. Industrial Sewing Technicians work both independently and as part of team builds to produce high-quality sewn goods. Each sewer has their own workstation while also utilizing specialized equipment shared throughout the department. With more than 300 products and variations manufactured across our operation, this is a role for someone who enjoys working with their hands, learning new skills, and staying busy throughout the day. Previous industrial sewing experience is preferred, but we are also interested in candidates with strong sewing fundamentals who are ready to learn industrial equipment and manufacturing techniques. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Operate or learn to operate a variety of industrial sewing equipment, including single- and double-needle machines, sergers, binders, tackers, and other specialty machines. Sew Frost River products and contract manufacturing projects according to established construction methods and quality standards. Work both independently and as part of team builds to complete production priorities efficiently. Maintain a strong focus on quality and attention to detail while working with a sense of urgency. Learn the construction methods, materials, equipment, and techniques required to produce a variety of products. Inspect your own work, identify potential quality concerns, and make corrections when necessary. Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance of your sewing equipment. Adapt to changing production priorities and move between products or projects as needed. Support other production tasks and team members when needed to keep builds moving. Qualifications Previous industrial sewing experience in a professional or manufacturing environment is preferred, but not required. Previous sewing experience and familiarity with basic sewing techniques are strongly preferred. Ability and willingness to learn multiple types of industrial sewing equipment. Ability to follow written and verbal production instructions. Ability to recognize quality standards and consistently produce accurate work. Ability to learn routine cleaning and light maintenance of industrial sewing equipment. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Ability to sit, stand, bend, stretch, twist, and reach throughout the workday. Ability to safely lift and move materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
