This position is responsible for executing laboratory tests, assisting with prototype development, maintaining mechanical and electrical systems, and ensuring safe and efficient lab operations. This role bridges hands-on mechanical work, electrical troubleshooting, and engineering support, contributing to R D, product validation, and continuous improvement efforts. The ideal candidate brings strong troubleshooting abilities across mechanical and electrical systems, along with experience maintaining industrial equipment and supporting engineering initiatives. Key Responsibilities Laboratory & Engineering Support Collaborate with Project Engineers to conduct experiments, collect data, and support engineering analysis Assist in the fabrication, assembly, and testing of prototype equipment to support R D initiatives Set up, test, and troubleshoot automation systems and engineered assemblies Develop and implement test methods, procedures, and validation protocols Record, analyze, and document test results; generate detailed reports Mechanical & Electrical Maintenance Perform preventative maintenance (PMs) on laboratory and production equipment, including sprockets, chains, and mechanical components Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including components such as capacitors, compressors, and motors (120V-480V systems) Maintain and support HVAC and gas-fired systems, including exposure to furnace-related equipment Diagnose and resolve equipment failures to minimize downtime and ensure operational efficiency Assembly & Product Support Build and assemble products, sub-assemblies, and components Ensure products meet engineering specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements Work with vendors to source alternative components and materials Laboratory Operations Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment Ensure compliance with safety policies, procedures, and regulations Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment Manage inventory of lab supplies and order materials as needed Assist in training new laboratory personnel Required Skills & Competencies Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills Experience working with industrial equipment, HVAC systems, or gas-fired systems Knowledge of laboratory testing methods and equipment Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering specifications Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities High attention to detail and accuracy Effective communication and teamwork skills Working knowledge of safety standards and best practices Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting Education & Experience Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology, Electronics, Mechanical Systems, or a related field preferred OR equivalent hands-on experience in maintenance, lab, or engineering support roles Background in fabrication, electrical systems, HVAC, or mechanical product systems strongly preferred Experience working with appliances, heating systems, or similar equipment is a plus Prior HAZMAT certification is a plus (or willingness to obtain) Reasoning Ability Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, schematic, or diagram form Capable of troubleshooting issues involving multiple variables in technical environments Applies practical, hands-on problem-solving skills to real-world engineering challenges Physical Demands Frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing, and use of hands for tools and equipment Ability to lift up to 50 lbs with assistance Visual abilities including close, distance, color, and depth perception Ability to work in physically active environments for extended periods Work Environment Exposure to moving mechanical parts and energized equipment Work may involve moderate to high noise levels Combination of laboratory, workshop, and light industrial settings PeopleShare is the leading Staffing Agency in the region and has temporary to hire and permanent jobs across 8 states.
