Role:

Personnel Services Unlimited (PSU) is hiring a Manufacturing Technician / Technical Services Technician for a manufacturing client in Rutherfordton, NC. You'll set up tooling, gauging, abrasives, and fixtures to keep production running smoothly in a lean, point-of-use environment. This role requires Strong math skills and experience with grinding, gauging, or precision machine set-up.

What You'll Do:

Set up and calibrate essential machine components — tooling, abrasives, gauging, and fixtures — to support production Maintain gauge calibration records using gauge management software Partner with machine operators to provide expert guidance on correct set-up methods and best practices Perform Preventive Care Maintenance (PCM) on tooling and gauging equipment Troubleshoot machine set-ups across multiple grinder types (internal, external, super-finishers, double disk grinders) Drive process improvement initiatives to reduce set-up variation Train team members on standardized work procedures and best practices Pre-set tooling and gauging components ahead of production runs where possible Follow all safety protocols, including PPE use, chemical labeling, and housekeeping standards

What You'll Need:

Required:

High School Diploma or equivalent Strong mathematical skills (shop math) 5-7 years of experience in grinding and manufacturing Working knowledge of gauging across multiple machine types Experience troubleshooting set-ups on various manufacturing equipment Basic computer skills

Preferred:

Prior experience in tooling and gauging Blueprint/schematic reading ability Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Ability to stand and walk throughout the workday Ability to lift and handle tooling, gauges, and manufacturing components Comfortable working around machine coolant, grease, oil, dirt, and industrial chemicals Ability to wear required personal protective equipment
