Job Description

The Manufacturing Technician position at Coherent Corp's Budd Lake, NJ Crystal Coating Department offers an opportunity to contribute to the coating process by ensuring the cleanliness and functionality of coating tooling in a high tech machine shop. The Coating Dept Manufacturing Tech Support, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the efficiency of our coating operations. Your primary responsibility will be to prepare coating tooling for future use by removing existing thin film coatings through sandblasting and subsequent cleaning processes. This involves operating sandblasting equipment, utilizing automated cleaning lines, and performing additional scrubbing and drying tasks as needed. You will also assist in restocking consumable supplies for the coating department, ensuring a smooth workflow. This role is responsible for maintaining the coat tooling for the coating department cleanroom. This includes bead blasting, running the tools through an automated clean-line, drying the tools & placing them back in their corresponding tool cabinets. Other responsibilities include restocking consumable items, assisting on sapphire packing, and labeling cabinet drawers for new items and tooling. Load tooling into bead blaster Refill & clean blaster when necessary Maintain automated clean-line; replace detergents when necessary, replace filters & clean tanks Load optics into fixtures; clean & inspect under a microscope Determine if surface quality is fully compliant to specific customer drawings/specifications Inspect and final clean per production schedule Unload coated crystals from fixtures & inspect surface quality under a microscope per ANSI, Mil standard or ISO. Perform reflectivity testing on spectrophotometers or lasers based on product wavelengths Enter WO data into MRP system in preparation for shipment
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or G.E.D. Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs on occasion Demonstrated ability to see and handle small parts 5+ years previous experience in a lab or manufacturing environment, using a microscope Must be able to work on repetitive tasks Basic data entry skills Must be able to stand for up to 45 minutes at a time Willing/able to work in a cleanroom environment, fully gowned Willing/able to work with minimal exposure to chemicals such as, methanol and
IPA Desired Qualifications:
Previous experience in an optics manufacturing environment or similar technical training Experience in optics cleaning and inspection Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, etc.) Accurate data entry skills MRP/ERP experience safety
