The Coffee Roaster is responsible for operating and monitoring computer-controlled roasting equipment, following established roast profiles, maintaining accurate production records, and ensuring each batch meets company quality standards. This position requires strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to safely manage multiple pieces of equipment in a fast-paced production environment. Essential Responsibilities Operate, monitor, and adjust computer-controlled coffee roasting equipment. Follow established roast profiles, production schedules, product specifications, and operating procedures. Load green coffee into roasting equipment and safely transfer roasted coffee through the production process. Monitor roast times, temperatures, color, and other quality indicators to ensure product consistency. Accurately identify, weigh, and document raw materials and finished products. Complete required roasting, production, quality, inventory, and traceability records. Monitor multiple pieces of equipment simultaneously while maintaining safety and product quality. Understand the basic mechanical functions of roasting and manufacturing equipment. Recognize and promptly report equipment issues, malfunctions, or unusual operating conditions. Perform equipment setup, product changeovers, cleaning, and basic operational maintenance. Coordinate with production, quality, warehouse, and maintenance team members as needed. Follow all food safety, sanitation, quality, and workplace safety procedures. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe roasting and production area. Assist with other production-related responsibilities as needed. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications and Skills Previous coffee roasting, manufacturing, food production, or machine-operating experience is preferred. Mechanical aptitude or prior mechanical repair experience is strongly preferred. Ability to learn and operate computer-controlled manufacturing equipment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing a consistent, high-quality product. Ability to calmly manage multiple tasks and pieces of equipment at the same time. Basic math, computer, reading, and recordkeeping skills. Ability to follow written procedures, product specifications, and production schedules. Strong problem-solving and communication skills. Ability to work independently after training and contribute effectively as part of a team. Dependable attendance and punctuality are essential. Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to: Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift. Frequently bend, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive movements. Lift and move coffee, materials, and equipment as required by the position. Climb stairs and safely access production and storage areas. Work safely around heat, noise, dust, and operating manufacturing equipment. Wear required personal protective equipment.
