Job Description
The Extrusion Winder Operator works under the supervision of the Shift Supervisor. Responsible for the quality of the coils coming off the winders. Provides assistance to the line operator. Monitors and records correlation of strapping produced to product specifications. Performs minor maintenance on winders. Performs housekeeping duties and other tasks as assigned. Duties and Responsibilities
- Sets up winders by changing cams, gears and arms during product changes and fixes issues with winders.
- Focus on wind and strap quality. Notify line operator if something is not working correctly.
- Keep work area clean, area swept, strap kept off the floor, trash cans emptied, winders cleared off.
- Trained to process coils when the line operator is not available, read straps with calipers, enter coils weights and reads in sfol.
- Check to ensure the packaging of the coil is good before stacking coil on the pallet.
- Chop scrap coils in front chopper and grinds sheet in back grinder wearing safety face shield when grinding sheet.
- Wears proper PPE including safety shoes, safety glasses and ear plugs.
- Safely string line from quad 2 to slitter.
- Packages coils and bands finished good pallets.
- Learn product specs for coil weights such as coil weights, thickness and width of strap.
- Performs other tasks as assigned by the line operator or foreman. Qualifications and Experience
- Read, write and possess basic math skills.
- Good Mechanical aptitude and experience
- Prior manufacturing experience a plus
- Meticulous attention to detail.
