Role Overview The Manufacturing Engineering Technician serves as the hands-on bridge between Engineering and Production. This position focuses on implementing emerging manufacturing technologies, supporting automation initiatives, improving production processes, and providing direct technical assistance to manufacturing associates. The technician works extensively on the manufacturing floor to identify improvement opportunities, troubleshoot equipment and process issues, support new technology integration, and turn engineering concepts into practical solutions that improve safety, quality, productivity, and reliability. This role reports to the Facilities Manager. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Manufacturing Floor Support

• Provide daily technical support to manufacturing operations and respond quickly to issues affecting safety, quality, efficiency, or throughput.
• Troubleshoot production equipment, tooling, automation systems, and manufacturing processes.
• Work directly with operators and supervisors to identify and resolve recurring manufacturing challenges.
• Assist with machine setup, process adjustments, changeovers, startups, and production trials.
• Observe manufacturing operations and recommend practical improvements. Emerging Technology Implementation
• Assist with evaluating, installing, testing, and implementing emerging manufacturing technologies.
• Support automation projects involving robotics, machine vision, sensors, controls, industrial networks, and data collection systems.
• Participate in equipment commissioning, validation, startup, and production handoff activities.
• Assist with Industry 4.0 and smart manufacturing initiatives, including production monitoring and data acquisition.
• Coordinate with vendors, contractors, equipment suppliers, and internal teams during implementation activities. Continuous Improvement
• Identify opportunities to reduce waste, downtime, scrap, variation, and process inefficiency.
• Participate in Lean Manufacturing initiatives, including 5S, Kaizen, standardized work, and Root Cause Analysis.
• Support corrective and preventive actions through data collection, testing, implementation, and follow-up.
• Conduct time studies, process observations, workflow reviews, and productivity assessments.
• Create and maintain standard work instructions, operating procedures, and technical documentation. Equipment and Process Development
• Assist Engineering with equipment upgrades, tooling improvements, process development, and production readiness.
• Support fabrication, assembly, installation, testing, and modification of fixtures, guards, tooling, and manufacturing equipment.
• Create and maintain basic technical drawings, specifications, equipment records, and process documentation.
• Conduct equipment capability and process performance evaluations.
• Support preventive and predictive maintenance improvement initiatives. Training and Technical Assistance
• Train operators and manufacturing associates on new equipment, technologies, processes, and safe operating practices.
• Develop clear, technician-friendly work instructions and training materials.
• Provide follow-up support after equipment launches and process changes.
• Promote safe, consistent, and efficient equipment operation across production departments and shifts. Safety, Quality, and Compliance
• Support company safety initiatives, risk assessments, machine-safety reviews, and corrective actions.
• Ensure equipment and process modifications follow approved safety and change-control requirements.
• Support ISO quality management system requirements, process controls, and audit documentation.
• Maintain organized work areas and promote strong housekeeping and 5S practices. Qualifications Education
• Associate degree in Manufacturing Technology, Mechatronics, Industrial Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Technology, or a related technical field is preferred.
• Equivalent technical education, apprenticeship training, certifications, and relevant manufacturing experience may be considered. Experience
• Two to five years of hands-on manufacturing, maintenance, automation, engineering technician, or related industrial experience is preferred.
• Experience working directly with production equipment and manufacturing associates.
• Experience supporting automation, equipment installation, or process improvement projects is preferred.
• Experience in an ISO-certified manufacturing environment is a plus. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Strong mechanical aptitude and practical troubleshooting ability.
• Basic understanding of electrical systems, motors, sensors, safety circuits, pneumatic and hydraulic components, and industrial controls.
• Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, equipment manuals, and manufacturing documentation.
• Familiarity with PLC-controlled equipment, robotics, machine vision, and industrial networking is beneficial.
• Basic CAD experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar software is preferred.
• Effective problem-solving, organization, communication, and time-management skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with operators, supervisors, maintenance personnel, engineers, vendors, and contractors.
• Self-motivated, adaptable, and eager to learn new manufacturing technologies and methods.
• Ability to manage multiple floor-support priorities in a fast-paced production environment. Physical Requirements and Work Environment
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the manufacturing facility.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to climb ladders, bend, kneel, and access equipment for inspection and troubleshooting.
• Comfortable working in an active industrial environment with varying temperatures, noise levels, and production conditions.
• Frequent hands-on interaction with manufacturing equipment, tooling, and production processes.
• Regular presence across shifts may be required to support operations, equipment launches, training, and business needs.
