Job Description

Knouse Foods is looking for an apprentice processor for our Peach Glen Plant! No warehouse/manufacturing experience required but is welcomed. This position is trained ot understand the process in assigned area/department. Learns to operate one or more machines to mix, process, cook and/or sterilize product, learns to make minor adjustments and repairs. Learns to test product quality and complete appropriate paperwork. This position is primarily 2nd shift but must be available for all shifts.

SUMMARY:
Job Requirements:
-Acquires an understanding of the process in the area /department. Learns to operate one or more machines within the department assigned. - Learns to mix, process, cook and/or sterilize all products using prescribed formulas and guidelines, and job experience. Weighs out ingredients and treatment chemicals. Adjusts feeding speed of ingredients, such as sugar and cinnamon from hoppers. Adjusts and monitors cook times and temperatures to maintain proper food quality. -Learns to monitors and test product quality. Draws samples for quality testing. Based on instruction, adapts processing to rectify any quality problems identified. -Learns to make minor mechanical repairs and adjustments to all process machinery in assigned plant. Ensures safe shutdown and safety lockout/tagout of equipment prior to test and repair. Sanitizes and sterilizes equipment. -Learns to complete required production paperwork. Stops the line when Food Safety or Food Quality issues are observed! Reports issues to Supervisor. -Operates forklift, when required. - While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk when observing line operations and making adjustments. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and climb or balance when operating machines and making repairs and adjustments. -The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds when working with plastic rolls, starch, and concentrate barrels and occasionally lift and/or move over 100 pounds when working with filter aid, calcium, cinnamon, and moving machine supplies, and barrels. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color perception and the ability to adjust focus in order to monitor operations. May need ability to operate 2-way radio for communication.
