Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Weaving Technician / Advanced Textile Weaver to support the production of high-performance technical fabrics used in demanding industrial and engineered applications. This position is responsible for the setup, operation, monitoring, troubleshooting, and routine maintenance of advanced textile weaving equipment. The role works with a variety of technical and engineered fibers, including carbon fiber, fiberglass, aramid, hybrid materials, and other specialty yarns. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and comfortable working with delicate, high-value materials where precision, consistency, and product quality are critical. Key ResponsibilitiesWeaving Equipment Operation Set up, operate, and monitor industrial weaving equipment used to manufacture technical fabrics. Perform machine startups, shutdowns, product changeovers, and production setups. Thread, draw-in, and tie-in warp yarns. Install and change warp beams, filling packages, reeds, heddles, harnesses, and related components. Adjust machine settings based on different weave constructions and product specifications. Monitor machine performance and fabric quality throughout production. Maintain production schedules while working to minimize equipment downtime. Make operational adjustments as needed to maintain consistent production. Technical Textile Production Manufacture advanced woven reinforcement and engineered fabrics using materials such as: Carbon fiber Fiberglass Aramid fibers Hybrid fabrics Specialty engineered fibers Follow work instructions, manufacturing specifications, and production requirements. Maintain proper warp tension and filling insertion. Ensure dimensional consistency, fabric appearance, and weave integrity. Identify and correct weaving defects before they result in excessive scrap or downtime. Handle technical fibers carefully to prevent contamination, breakage, or material damage. Quality Control Inspect woven materials throughout the manufacturing process.
Identify weaving defects including:
Broken ends Broken picks Mis-picks Floats Gaps Fabric distortion Incorrect weave patterns Verify fabric width, weight, construction, and other required specifications. Complete production documentation and quality inspection records accurately. Partner with Quality, Engineering, and Production personnel to troubleshoot process or product issues. Support efforts to improve first-pass quality and reduce scrap. Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting Perform routine preventative maintenance on weaving equipment. Clean and lubricate machinery according to established maintenance procedures. Inspect and replace worn components such as reeds, heddles, guides, and tension devices. Troubleshoot mechanical and operational equipment problems. Make minor adjustments and repairs within the scope of the position. Assist maintenance personnel with more complex repairs and equipment troubleshooting. Identify developing equipment problems before they result in extended downtime. Material Handling Safely handle high-value technical fibers and production materials. Load and unload warp beams and related production materials. Prepare filling packages for production. Maintain accurate material identification and traceability. Follow established inventory and material-control procedures. Operate material-handling equipment when properly trained and authorized. Continuous Improvement Identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, safety, and equipment efficiency. Participate in Lean manufacturing and continuous-improvement activities. Assist with the development and improvement of standard operating procedures and work instructions. Support efforts to reduce downtime, defects, and material waste. Cross-train on additional manufacturing equipment and processes as needed. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Manufacturing, textile, machine operation, or related production experience. Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability. Ability to follow manufacturing work instructions, specifications, and technical documentation. Strong attention to detail. Basic computer skills for production reporting and documentation. Ability to work safely around industrial machinery. Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience operating industrial weaving looms. Experience with advanced or technical textile weaving equipment. Experience weaving carbon fiber, fiberglass, aramid, hybrid, or other engineered materials. Experience working with technical textiles or composite reinforcement materials. Experience in aerospace, composites, automotive, defense, industrial manufacturing, or another highly controlled manufacturing environment. Familiarity with ISO-based or similarly structured quality-management systems. Experience performing preventative maintenance on production equipment. Forklift certification or the ability to obtain certification. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Successful candidates should demonstrate: Strong mechanical aptitude. Visually identify small defects and inconsistencies in woven materials, with corrected vision acceptable. Work safely around moving machinery and production equipment.
