The Mechanical Assembler manually assembles large-scale cooling systems used in data centers, following established work instructions and quality standards. Utilizing hand tools (rivet guns, torque wrenches, etc.), scanners, and lifting equipment the mechanical assembler will work as part of a collaborative production team while adhering to safety, quality and customer specifications.Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work under direct, close supervision of the Manufacturing Supervisor, Line Manager, or other management as assigned.
- Perform basic, standardized and repetitive assembly operations and labeling of components, assemblies or subassemblies.
- Assembles units per customer specifications and visual aids. Coordinates with teammates to organize tasks requiring multiple team members to accomplish.
- Utilizes manual and automated lifting devices while adhering to product safety specifications.
- Visually inspect parts for proper insertion and placement.
- Utilize bar code scanner and small hand tools.
- Ensure assemblies and components are properly handled and marked.
- Accurately maintain progress reports; monitor and restock parts bins as required.
- Follows mostly routine, standardized procedures to accomplish assigned tasks. Resolves routine questions and problems, referring more complex issues to higher levels.
- Provides information and coordinates action plans at cross-functional meetings and communicates issues with team members and/or visitors to drive corrective actions.
- Assists in area organization 5S attributes.
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of manufacturing, assembly, production, or other relevant hands-on experience preferred.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Read and understand visual aid.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive tasks for up to 12 hours, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 40 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation; mechanical lifting devices and team lifts may be utilized as needed.
- Ability to operate a personal computer including using a Windows based operating system and related software.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Individuals must be able to work overtime as required, must be able to respond to conflicting deadlines, changing priorities, and continuous interruptions.
