Position Summary The Chemical Manufacturing Technician is responsible for supporting the safe, accurate, and efficient production of chemical products in accordance with approved batch records, manufacturing procedures, quality requirements, and production schedules. This position performs chemical batching, weighing, mixing, material handling, equipment operation, production documentation, and other manufacturing activities necessary to produce finished products that meet established company and customer specifications. The Chemical Manufacturing Technician works closely with Manufacturing, QA/QC, Warehouse, Logistics, EHS, and Maintenance to support safe operations, product quality, and production requirements. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Manufacturing and Batch Operations Manufacture chemical batches according to approved batch records, work instructions, and production procedures.
Verify raw materials, ingredients, quantities, lot numbers, and material identification before use.
Weigh, measure, transfer, and mix liquids, solids, powders, and other materials according to approved instructions.
Add materials in the required sequence and monitor applicable process parameters, including temperature, mixing time, and quantity.
Operate authorized mixers, agitators, pumps, filtration systems, transfer equipment, filling equipment, and other manufacturing equipment.
Assist with filtration, filling, packaging, and other production activities as assigned.
Monitor production processes and immediately report deviations, incorrect materials, equipment concerns, or unusual conditions.
Do not modify batch formulas, quantities, or processing parameters unless properly authorized. Chemical and Material Handling Safely stage, move, transfer, and handle raw materials, chemicals, drums, totes, containers, and production supplies.
Follow applicable Safety Data Sheets (SDS), chemical compatibility, segregation, storage, and handling requirements.
Ensure chemical containers are properly identified, labeled, handled, and stored.
Immediately report spills, leaks, damaged containers, unusual odors, incorrect labels, or other chemical hazards.
Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other authorized material-handling equipment when required.
Complete required equipment inspections and safely secure and transport loads.
Do not operate equipment or handle regulated materials unless properly trained and authorized. Quality and Production Documentation Perform authorized in-process checks, measurements, sampling, and testing as required.
Coordinate with QA/QC regarding sampling, product status, holds, releases, and quality concerns.
Immediately report unusual results, contamination concerns, process deviations, or potential product-quality issues.
Accurately complete batch records, production logs, material-usage records, equipment records, and other required documentation.
Maintain material and product traceability throughout the manufacturing process.
Record required raw material lot numbers, quantities, processing information, and production results.
Maintain accurate records in accordance with company document-control and retention requirements.
Support internal, customer, regulatory, and certification audits as required. Equipment, Inventory, and Operational Support Perform required pre-use inspections and routine cleaning of assigned manufacturing and material-handling equipment.
Report equipment damage, leaks, malfunctions, or unsafe operating conditions.
Assist with basic preventive-maintenance activities as assigned and coordinate equipment concerns with appropriate personnel.
Monitor raw materials, chemicals, production supplies, and consumables used within assigned areas.
Communicate material or supply shortages and assist with inventory and cycle-count activities as requested.
Coordinate with Warehouse and Logistics regarding material availability, staging, movement, and finished-product storage.
Maintain clean, organized, and safe production, equipment, and material-storage areas. Safety and Compliance Follow all company Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies, SOPs, manufacturing procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) based on assigned tasks, chemicals, and work areas.
Follow chemical-handling, spill-prevention, waste-management, and emergency-response procedures.
Immediately report spills, chemical exposures, unsafe conditions, injuries, property damage, and near-miss incidents.
Stop work and notify a supervisor when an immediate safety, environmental, or product-quality hazard is identified.
Participate in required safety, environmental, chemical-handling, forklift, manufacturing, and job-specific training.
Maintain clear access to emergency equipment, exits, walkways, and designated work areas.
Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Education High school diploma or GED required.
Associate or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Technology, Manufacturing Technology, Process Technology, or a related technical or scientific field preferred.
Relevant manufacturing, chemical-processing, production, or technical experience may be considered in combination with education and training. Experience Zero (0) to four (4) years of chemical manufacturing, production, industrial, laboratory, material-handling, or related experience.
Entry-level candidates with relevant education, technical training, or transferable skills are encouraged to apply.
Experience in chemical manufacturing, semiconductor manufacturing, or another industrial production environment is preferred but not required.
Experience with chemical batching, mixing, filtration, filling, material transfer, or forklift operation is preferred but not required. Licenses and Certifications Forklift certification preferred.
Employees who are not currently certified must successfully complete company-required forklift training and authorization before independently operating powered industrial trucks.
Employees must complete required chemical-handling, manufacturing, equipment, safety, and job-specific training before independently performing applicable duties. Background Screening and Regulatory Requirements Due to the nature of company operations and this position's potential access to chemical materials, DEA-regulated materials, manufacturing areas, and restricted operational areas, background screening and security requirements may apply. Employment may be contingent upon successful completion of company-required background screening and security requirements.
Employees assigned responsibilities involving DEA-regulated or other regulated materials must meet applicable training, access, documentation, and security requirements.
