Job Description

Akkodis is seeking a Manufacturing Technician B (MTSB) for a Contract job with a client in Salt Lake City, UT . The ideal candidate will have experience in printed circuit board assembly, soldering, surface mount technology (SMT), and electronics manufacturing, along with the ability to support prototype and low-volume production builds in a laboratory environment.
Rate Range:
$22/hour to $25/hour ; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
Manufacturing Technician B Job Responsibilities Include:
Assemble, modify, and rework printed circuit card assemblies in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment supporting prototype and production development programs. Perform hand soldering, de-soldering, touch-up, and rework activities on through-hole and surface mount electronic components in accordance with industry and company standards. Operate surface mount assembly equipment and perform coating, assembly, inspection, and rework activities while following engineering requirements and manufacturing procedures. Review engineering drawings, blueprints, assembly instructions, and technical documentation to ensure products are assembled accurately and meet performance specifications. Document assembly results, manufacturing data, process findings, and non-conformance information while collaborating with engineering teams to resolve design or manufacturability issues. Support laboratory operations by maintaining an organized workspace, handling materials properly, assisting with quick-turn development activities, and supporting overtime requirements when needed.
Desired Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of four years of experience in electronics assembly, manufacturing, soldering, or related technical environments, or an Associate Degree with up to two years of related experience. Strong experience performing circuit card assembly, electronic rework, component installation, and soldering activities within a manufacturing or laboratory environment. Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, assembly instructions, blueprints, technical procedures, and manufacturing documentation. Proficiency performing detailed assembly work under a microscope and maintaining high-quality workmanship standards for electronic products.
Preferred Qualifications:
IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, and applicable Space Addendum certifications are strongly preferred. Experience supporting Surface Mount Technology (SMT) manufacturing, prototype builds, and low-volume electronics production environments. Knowledge of soldering techniques, ESD protection practices, electronic assembly operations, and industry-standard manufacturing processes. Experience utilizing Microsoft Office applications and standard computer systems for documentation, reporting, and manufacturing support activities. This position requires the use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
