Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Outsole Technician to join our leather moccasin footwear manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for the application of soles, inspection of footwear, and overall quality control of outsoles—the bottom part of shoes that provides durability and traction. Your expertise will contribute to the overall excellence of our leather footwear products. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with other craftspeople and apply your technical skills to create high-quality made-to-order leather footwear for our Russell Moccasin customers. Duties Apply outsoles to footwear according to the customer made-to-order specifications, using a variety of hand tools and specialized equipment to ensure accurate placement and bonding. Operate equipment to attach the sole, such as sewing machines. Trim soles to the correct measurements according to the design specs. This includes using specialized equipment and following safety protocols. Inspect finished outsoles for defects, ensuring adherence to quality standards and specifications. Handle chemical agents used in bonding or finishing processes. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Collaborate with the maintenance team to troubleshoot mechanical issues with equipment or tools, applying mechanical knowledge effectively. Document production data accurately and report any quality concerns. Skills Strong mechanical knowledge with experience operating hand tools, power tools, and specialized machinery. Excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with team members and supervisors. Ability to follow detailed safety protocols. Strong attention to detail for quality inspections and defect detection during assembly processes.
