Job Description

Education Level:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
Job Summary:
The primary role of the Welding Engineer is to develop welding techniques, procedures, and applications of welding equipment to address issues involving the fabrication of metals.
Essential Functions:
Ensure compliance with TTI/FSS Company Safety Policies to protect personnel and property. Conduct research and development to improve welding processes, techniques, and equipment. Prepare technical reports detailing research findings. Establish and refine welding procedures, including complex alloys, critical joints, and post-heating requirements. Evaluate new welding developments for applicability to current production processes. Oversee technical personnel to ensure compliance with welding procedures and standards, and test welds for conformance with national code requirements. Collaborate with external agencies, engineering personnel, or clients for technical advice. Perform experimental welding to test new equipment, techniques, and materials. Support production by solving welding issues in a high-volume manufacturing environment. Adhere to company policies and procedures for compliance with internal and external requirements.
Quality Standards:
Read and understand drawings, codes, and specifications. Ensure all established welding procedures are followed and improved as necessary. Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness, promoting quality improvements. Adhere to all safety protocols.
Teamwork:
Maintain a positive attitude and work effectively with all departments and staff. Actively participate in safety meetings and promote the company safety culture.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. CWEng (Certified Welding Engineer) preferred.
Technical Skills:
Strong understanding of AWS and ASME welding guidelines, ability to read and apply customer weld requirements, interpret inspection guidelines, and other quality requirements.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret technical procedures and governmental regulations, write reports, and develop procedural manuals.
Reporting:
Reports to the Production Manager.
