Forging Engineer
LOCATION
Jupiter, FL.
STATUS:
Salary Exempt Job Summary:
Seeking a Forging Engineer with basic knowledge of wrought, formed, and forged steel, cobalt, and nickel alloys. This includes understanding the effects of manufacturing processing and heat treatment on properties. Essential duties & responsibilities The essential functions of the job include the following: Review and execute approval of special manufacturing processes that have metallurgical requirements Material related non-conformance assessments and dispositions Root cause analysis Gas turbine material selection: Stainless steel, low carbon steel, nickel, and cobalt alloys for components throughout the gas turbine.
This includes:
Forgings, sheet metal, plate, bar Responsible for material and process qualification specification creation and revisions Other duties as assigned Education & Training Bachelor's Degree in Metallurgical or Materials Engineering, or related field Skills/Experience 2+ years of experience with metal alloys used for gas turbines preferred 2+ years Experience conducting evaluations of microstructure and defects Available for travel to suppliers for qualification review and audits as needed Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite software Must be a detail-oriented, high energy, self-starter with the ability to drive the successful completion of projects within specified time frames Process and team-oriented; able to work with a diverse workforce Strong written and oral communication skills Trustworthy, quick learning, innovative and reliable Metallurgical lab evaluation technique experience preferred Familiar with commercial material specifications - domestic and international Able to interpret engineering prints Knowledge of welding / brazing processes preferred Knowledge of protective coatings for gas turbine components preferred Investment casting process Equal Opportunity Employer Veterans/Disabled
