Welding Engineer Job Description Welding engineer is responsible for managing welding projects and supervising the welding team. The responsibilities of a welding engineer include providing consulting services, coordinating multiple projects, and overseeing the welding procedure. Computer literate, possess an understanding of mechanical and structural components, and possess good team working skills. Superior proficiency in welding, good organizational skills, and possess a safety-orientated mindset.

Welding Engineer Responsibilities:

Leading welding projects. Analyzing engineering designs for welding requirements. Overseeing a team of welders. Reviewing welding procedures, processes, and documentation. Managing welding procedure qualifications and generating welding procedures to help the manufacturing and welding teams. Conducting failure analyses and cause analyses on welding issues.

Welding Engineer Requirements:

Degree in welding engineering or related field. Previous experience in welding engineering. Licensed Engineer. Solid leadership skills. Strong organizational and administrative skills. Computer literate. Job Summary Working Supervisor overseeing welding / beveling department of 6-8 team members over all shifts; must maintain a high level of productivity and safety awareness while functioning as part of the fabrication team to produce customer assemblies. Summary of Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities Effectively and proficiently manage fabrication department while concurrently functioning as a welder Complete quality inspections including mag-particle, dye-penetration, and necessary documentation Fabricate and weld products to customer drawings and production voucher specifications using the correct materials, following all appropriate welding procedures. Ability to select the proper sequence of fitting and welding to meet the specifications of the quality program and due dates as assigned. Participate in the production planning, fixturing, jigging providing Inspect welded assemblies produced to ensure tolerances; maintaining high quality results; also completing production voucher information. The Candidate will be required to flame/plasma bevel precision parts to customer drawings and tolerances, prior experience is a plus but not mandatory. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures

Other Skills/Abilities Experience/Skills:

Proficient in the science of the arc welding processes GMAW, FCAW, and

SMAW. SAW

experience a plus. Minimum of 8 - 10 years' experience in a Welding Engineering role preferably using the major arc welding processes as listed. Experience with leading major automation and manufacturing efficiency projects improvement projects Basic knowledge of the heat-treating processes Basic knowledge of MT, PT, UT, and RT NDT processes. Experience/certification in one or more NDT processes a plus. Ability to determine welding requirements in AWS, ASME, and EN codes and specifications along with ISO and governmental regulations Weld procedure Requirements Welder Qualification Requirements Production Welding Requirements Ability to simultaneously resolve numerous welding related production issues and non-conformances. Ability to communicate with multi-cultural team members Must be able to work independently across the organization Willingness to travel globally as required by the business Ability to work in other engineering disciplines to resolve business related production requirements Ability to interpret drawings and manufacturing process documents Must be willing to train other welders on new techniques, processes or changes in design

Education:

Bachelor of Science in

Welding Engineering or Welding Engineering Technology Certifications:

Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or the willingness & commitment to become a CWI within the first year of employment Minimum Requirements 8-10 years prior experience in a fabrication facility with a welding certification in GMAW as specified by (AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code). Mig and Tig welding processes on carbon, stainless and aluminum
